20210524 Bedroom
I am in the bedroom right now. The room is about 3 by 4 meters. On the right is a closet for our clothes. It is a big mess and we always keep the doors closed so that we are not constantly reminded of the fact that we have been having good intentions to clean it up for years now. The bed is a bit small for two people, but we don't mind huddling together. When lying on the bed, like I am right now, you have a view of two windows that look out on the buildings on the other side of the street. In front of the right window we placed a small table that we use as second desk for when we both work from home. On the small strip of wall between the windows we put photo's from a vacation in South America. On the window bench of the left window I have a collection of small cacti. I'm doing my best to keep them alive, but every year a couple of them die. I'm never sure if I give them too much or too little water. I try to grow new ones to replace them, but sometimes I also buy new ones in the local flower shop. On the left wall I have an old book case I inherited from an aunt and I filled it with books of literature and philosophy. Before I go to bed I often pick a book to read a little before I go to sleep. In the book case I also have a lot of small items that remind me of certain moments in my life. For instance, there is a card of a terracotta figure that is wrestling with a lion . I bought it in a museum in Sweden. The man must be really strong, because the lion is looking quite desperate. The face of the terracotta man looks a bit like mine, but I can assure you that I have never wrestled a lion nor have I the intention to try.
